This is a HUGE shortcut for the next time you use your whiteboard during a songwriting / lyric substitution exercise.

Love this! I never thought of mixing the two markers! It reminded me that many years ago I had REMO make about 50 lollipop drums without the lollipop print on it. They became my portable white board drums! I still have one left, but I am not sure where the rest of the 49 went! They are out there somewhere! These were really awesome in therapy and it would be cool if REMO made them again!

Thanks for the tip!

Great idea Daniel! Looks like I’m not the only one who likes your idea since other folks have seem to ‘inherited’ your drums :) It would be cool if REMO made them again. I know that they suggest using their ‘sound shape’ drums like white boards but I don’t prefer to use that set… it isn’t the best sounding for my client’s needs. A ‘blank’ lollipop drum would definitely be something that I would buy!

Great tip, Michelle! Funny, I just bought a white board “slate” for my son’s birthday this morning! I have dry erase, but not wet erase markers. Will have to get some of those too. Your post is very timely. Looks like Mommy will be borrowing the goods. ;-)

Glad to hear you like it! I do feel pretty clever about this whole thing. But, truthfully, all of this was written on the wet erase marker package. :o

Thanks for this post/tip– I wonder what you were describing when you said, at the end of the video, that you did activities like that back when you were doing 30-minute groups back-to-back for eight hours a day– was that in music therapy, or another position?
Thanks again,

It was music therapy… my first job was at a residential facility where adults diagnosed with developmental delays lived. Therapeutic program classes (MT, PT, Rec. Therapy, etc.) took place every 30 minutes. So every day at work I had 4 back-to-back sessions, lunch break, then 4 back-to-back sessions. (Office time was scheduled first thing and last thing in the work day.) I believe this kind of schedule is common for these types of places… at least is was back then (7 years ago). But there was no time between sessions to set up the environment… including re-writing lyrics on a white board. This whole wet erase – dry erase marker thing would have been helpful to know. :)
