Great. Big. News.

We always talk about how as a music therapist you have a lot of different hats… clinician, musician, marketer, songwriter, etc, etc.

In January 2013 I’ll also be a MOTHER.

I’m excited. I’m shocked. I’m ecstatic. I’m dealing with a lot of unknowns. (Oh, and I think my husband is thinking those same things too.)

All of this is making me realize that I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a music therapist sharing their experiences of being pregnant when working… well, other than little sidebar conversations at the conference bar. I’m a little surprised since our profession is one that is heavily made up of women. But, I figure one reason why it hasn’t happened is because we haven’t have a pregnant music therapy blogger who is willing to talk about their experiences… until now of course. This blog is all about sharing whatever I’m going through anyway… I’m DEFINITELY going through something wonderful now!

So friends, I’ll be taking you along with me in this new adventure here on the Music Therapy Tween. Buckle up, I hear it will be a crazy ride!

(P.S. I’m so glad that you know because now I can start a ‘baby’ board on Pinterest.)

Congratulations!! I’m always available for any questions about being a pregnant MT-BC. It’s a really neat experience. I sang (the same song) to my belly every morning during my first pregnancy and, when she was born, she responded to her song immediately. Now, I practice age-appropriate activities with her to make sure they will work like I hoped. She’s a great measuring stick! (PS-January babies rock!)

I’m so happy to read your big announcement!!! Congratulations! I’ve never thought about how there really hasn’t yet been a pregnant music therapy blogger–I started blogging after my second was born. I can’t wait to read what you have in store, Michelle! :)

Thanks for being willing to share this! I’m in transition between my MT degree and internship, and I’m also getting married in a little over 6 weeks and hope to have kids! I look forward to hearing how you and your practice adapt to these changes. Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!! :) :)

Congratulations! What a true blessing! I just listened to the Music Therapy Round Table Podcast on bucket lists and this will certainly be a great addition to all the hats you wear and change your bucket list in many ways! Can’t wait to see what this next chapter of your life holds!

Congratulations and many blessings on your pregnancy!
Happy Harmonies,
